Hello! My name is kate Quist and welcome to my portfolio!
My philosophy
I am a dedicated, creative teacher who is ready to challenge, and inspire all learners to become responsible citizens. I understand that early education is the beginning of a lifetime of learning. It is a time of great expectations and hopes for both parents and children. Throughout my career, I have followed the philosophy of educating and developing the whole child. My goal is to accomodate the academic, social and emotional needs for each student. I believe an important factor that influences learning is to construct knowledge from personal experience and background knowledge. Therefore, I have students exploring and creating connections from what he or she already knows.
A little bit about me
I have a rich teaching experience in the early education field, where I have the opportunity to continually develop my knowledge in a variety of areas that are beneficial in an early childhood teaching position. I truly enjoy working with young children- their enthusiasm for life and learning is contagious! As a kindergarten teacher and reading interventionist, my qualifications are based on a unique combination of literacy, science and art. I attended Western Michigan University and received my bachelor's degree in biology and art education. After that I completed my teaching certification through Grand Valley State University where I focused on early childhood education. I also hold a Master's degree in reading through Western Michigan University.
